The Master's level Biostatistician 3 collaborates independently or jointly with biostatistics faculty with biomedical researchers to design and implement research studies, analyze data, and publish the results. S/he can assume primary responsibility for writing the design, statistical methods, and statistical analysis components of research proposals. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate independently or jointly with biostatistics faculty with other biomedical Investigators and assist in developing research objectives, designing sampling and randomization schemes, and implementing data collection procedures to achieve study objectives.
  • Design statistical analysis plans, perform statistical analyses, write statistical methods and results sections of reports and publications.
  • Make verbal presentations at weekly research meetings, workshops, seminar series, and professional/scientific meetings.
  • Interact with faculty, graduate research assistants, students, and other GUMC and LCCC investigators to provide biostatistics consultation and collaboration for related biomedical research projects in LCCC's Cancer Prevention and Control Program.


Work Interactions

The Master's level Biostatistician is expected to collaborate independently or jointly with biostatistics faculty with other Cancer prevention and control program and assist in developing research objectives, designing sampling and randomization schemes, and implementing data collection procedures to achieve study objectives. He/she is expected to have weekly/monthly progress meetings on a regular with the Biostatistics department supervisor (eg. Dr. Jaeil Ahn, Dr. George Luta, Dr. Kepher Makambi) and discuss the task schedule as needed.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Master's degree in biostatistics/statistics or related fields
  • At least 3 years of experience (after receipt of the master's degree) working in a biomedical environment, with preference given to population science and cancer research
  • Experience with advanced statistical methods including generalized linear models, mixed-effects models, mediation analysis, and trajectory or cluster analyses for epidemiologic studies
  • Good oral and written communication and presentation skills in a team science environment.
  • Expertise in programming with R (knitr preferred), SAS, etc. Knowledge of Python and M-plus is a plus.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$54,616.00 - $100,493.33

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
