Location

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

The Department of Engineering Technology consists of over 400 students and 10 full-time faculty members in two ABET-accredited undergraduate 4-year degree programs (Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology and Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology). The faculty are committed to student success and to delivering a nationally recognized program. Scholarship in the department spans both industry- and government-funded research projects focused on practical application of engineering principles. The faculty have expertise in areas that include manufacturing, CNC machining and fabrication, additive manufacturing, engineering materials, nondestructive testing, mechanism design, product development, prototyping, mechanical design of automated manufacturing systems, biomedical applications, engineering design graphics, as well as teaching and learning in engineering education. Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering Technology in the Department of Engineering Technology in the Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology with a preferred start date of August 2025. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in mechanical engineering technology such as manufacturing, CNC machining, additive manufacturing, materials, mechanics, machine design, controls, engineering design graphics, fluid mechanics, materials science, thermodynamics, computer aided engineering, and/or related laboratory courses.
  • Develop and maintain an externally funded research program in a novel engineering and/or manufacturing area emphasizing scholarly activities, including peer-reviewed journal and conference publications, grant writing, mentoring students, and developing a sustainable independent research agenda.
  • Engage in departmental, school, or university service appropriate to the position
  • Advance the goals and strategic plan of KSU

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications
  • A Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is required. The required degree must be earned by the start date.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • Evidence of scholarly work and creative activities such as external funding, mentoring students in research, and peer-reviewed publications
  • Experience teaching online or hybrid courses
  • Post-doc experience
  • Professional Engineering licensure
  • Certified SolidWorks Professional Certification or better
